Cupping FAQ

What Are The Benefits Of Cupping?
It can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and much more. Pain relief can be quick, and long term injuries can get better within a few treatments.

Here Are Some Conditions That Cupping Can Help With:

What should I Expect During Treatment?

A cupping session is generally comfortable and can feel relieving, particularly in areas of chronic tightness. Treatment is tailored to you, ensuring appropriate pressure, duration, and technique.
What Should I Expect After My Cupping Session?
You may feel lighter, looser, and more mobile. Mild tenderness or temporary marks can occur but usually resolve quickly. Staying hydrated and allowing the body to rest can support recovery. It's always a good idea to drink plenty of water after a Cupping session. No hot bath's, shower's, sauna's until the next day. Do not exercise until the next day, as your body needs to recover from the cupping session. I also wouldn't advise you to get any other bodywork for up to 48 hours after treatment.

How Long Will It Take Before I Start To Notice A Difference?
Every individual responds differently based on factors such as the duration and severity of medical history, current lifestyle, motivation levels, frequency/consistency of visits. So there is no "one size fits all" answer. For some even just one session can impart a lifetime of changes, though most feel improvement within the first few treatments. Even one session is better than none! There is no protocol that must be followed, and you are free to decide what works best for you.
Will Cupping Leave Marks?

Cupping may leave temporary circular marks on the skin. These are not bruises; they’re simply a sign of increased circulation and the release of stagnation in the tissues. Marking varies depending on tissue health and the level of stagnation present. They are a normal response to increased circulation and typically fade within a few days.

Is Cupping Painful?
Most clients describe cupping as relieving rather than painful. You may feel a gentle pulling sensation as the tissue lifts. Pressure is always adjusted to your comfort level.

Who Should Avoid Cupping?
Cupping may not be suitable for individuals with:

-
Gliding cupping: Cups are moved across the skin to release fascial adhesions.
-
Dry cupping: Suction only, with no bleeding techniques.

Do You Offer Cupping In The North West Of Northern Ireland?
Yes. Cupping therapy is available to clients across Derry/Londonderry, Strabane, Limavady, Coleraine, and the wider North West region, including those travelling from Donegal. Sessions are tailored to your specific needs.

Can Cupping Be Combined With Other Treatments?
Absolutely. Cupping is often used alongside myofascial release, massage therapy, and other soft‑tissue techniques to enhance treatment outcomes. However I would advise waiting 48 hours after your cupping session before receiving any additional bodywork.
